„Miután elmentek tőlük az angyalok a mennybe, a pásztorok így szóltak egymáshoz: Menjünk el Betlehembe, és nézzük meg azt, ami ott történt, amit az Úr tudtunkra adott.” (Luk.2,15)

   Szeretett Testvéreink Krisztus közösségében!

   Az első karácsony pásztorai sötétségben és félelemben képesek hallgatni az angyal üzenetére és a mennyei seregek bizonyságtételére. Azok az egyszerű emberek csodát láttak és hallottak arról, hogy a dicsőséges Isten megváltoztatja a világot, amelyben soha nem tapasztalt békesség és mindeneket átölelő jóakarat boldogít minden embert. Krisztus megszületett, azaz megjelent Isten üdvözítő kegyelme.(Tit.2,11) Irgalommal nyit új utat nemzete elé, nem emberi érdemek miatt, hanem megújító Szentlelke által.(Tit.3,4)

   Az ószövetség prófétái elhatalmasodó romlás között elhallgatnak. Zakariás -Keresztelő János apja- fogalmazza meg a teljesen új világról szóló vágyat. „… meglátogat minket a felkelő nap magasságából, hogy világítson azoknak, akik sötétségben és a halál árnyékában lakoznak, hogy lábunkat a békesség útjára igazítsa.”(Luk.1,78-79) Történelmünk során kerültek őseink hasonló mélységbe, felsorolhatatlanul sokan fordultak könyörgőn az ég felé irgalmat remélve. Nem rejthetjük el a magunk mában zajló drámai küzdelmét, amely hasonló Pál apostol hajótörési élményére. „Mivel pedig sem a nap, sem a csillagok nem látszottak több napon át, és erős vihar tombolt, végül elveszett megmenekülésünk minden reménye.”(Csel.27,20)

   Az életveszélyes halálvölgyeken, ahol a magány, a sötétség, a tehetetlenség rémítő elemei között vergődünk, érdemes az első karácsony pásztorainak példáját követnünk. Csapdák, szakadékok, ellenséges erők között hallgatnunk kell a mennyei hangokra, értenünk kell Teremtőnk szavát, követnünk Krisztus nyomát, keresni a Szentlélek közösségét. Kegyelemből támogatott önvédelem ez saját bűneinkkel és ellenünk vétkezőkkel szemben.

   Az angyal és a mennyei sereg távozása nem keserítette el a pásztorokat, nem merültek el önsajnáló búskomorságba. Nem rágalmazták Istent a rövidke látogatás miatt, és nem vádolták azzal, hogy keveset adott a jóból! Tudták, hogy ezek után rajtuk a sor. Egyikük kimondta a félelem, a lemondás, az önfeladás ellenszereként felfogható felszólító mondatot: „Menjünk el Betlehemig…” Ne tétlenkedjünk, ne sajnálkozzunk, ne panaszkodjunk, menjünk és nézzünk! Menjünk ma a keresztyénüldözés idején saját gyülekezetünk templomába, a mieink közé, a mi nyelvünkön hangzó istentiszteletre. Azt nézzük, ami történt. A pásztorok ezt úgy említik, hogy a valóra váltott szót, az igazi ígéretet akarják közelről megtapasztalni. Ami „történt”, azt János így fogalmazza meg: „Az Ige testté lett, közöttünk lakott, és láttuk az ő dicsőségét, mint az Atya egyszülöttjének dicsőségét, telve kegyelemmel és igazsággal.(Ján.1,14)  

   A pásztorok az első karácsonykor felismerik és el is mondják, hogy mindent Urunk cselekedett, ezért nem lehet bizonytalanul, vagy felelőtlenül fogadnunk az örömüzenetet. Legyünk a régi pásztorok új utódai, hogy hiteles evangéliumközvetítéssel, közösségépítéssel és a lélek erőivel szolgáló alázattal tegyük karácsonyiabbá a hétköznapokat is.

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” (Luke 2:15)

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

The shepherds of the first Christmas were terrified in the darkness before they were brought the good tidings of great joy by the multitude of the heavenly host. Those simple men witnessed a miracle and the announcement about how the glorious God was to change the world, to be ruled by peace by embracing all humans in good will. Christ was born: the grace of God that brings salvation appeared to all people (Titus 2:11), not by human works of righteousness, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4).

The growing deterioration of Israel made the prophets of the Old Testament silent. Zechariah – the father of John the Baptist – spoke about the wish of an entirely new world: “Through the tender mercy of our God, with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us;to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace” (Luke 1:78-79). Similarly, this strong belief in God’s mercy kept our nation throughout the tormented history of the region and saved us individually from spiritual agonies in desperate situations.  

While walking through the valleys of death –– in darkness, solitude and inertia –– we need to follow the example of the shepherds of the first Christmas: we need to listen to the heavenly voice, we should understand the Word of the Creator, we must follow the footprints of Christ, and we have to search for communion in the Holy Spirit.

Christianity remains the most persecuted religion in the world. Inaction, regret, moaning, resignation and self-surrender are destructive, we should act instead, as the shepherds did. We should go to Bethlehem; we should go to our local churches to see what happened, to experience how God’s promise came true. And we are not supposed to receive the good news vaguely and irresponsibly; instead, we should pass on the good news and humbly serve our community, as the shepherds did.

„După ce au plecat îngerii de la ei, ca să se întoarcă în cer, păstorii au zis unii către alţii: „Haidem să mergem până la Betleem și să vedem ce ni s-a spus și ce ne-a făcut cunoscut Domnul.”. (Luca 2:15)

  Iubiți frați din comunitatea lui Hristos!

Păstorii primului Crăciun sunt capabili să asculte în întuneric și frică mesajul îngerului și mărturia oștirilor cerești. Acei oameni simpli au văzut și au auzit miracolul gloriosului Dumnezeu schimbând lumea unde pacea și îmbrățișarea bunăvoinței binecuvântează pe toți oamenii. Hristos s-a născut, adică a apărut harul mântuitor al lui Dumnezeu (Tit 2:11).  El deschide o nouă cale către națiunea sa cu milă, nu pentru meritul uman, ci prin Duhul său Sfânt înnoitor. (Tit.3,4)

Profeții din Vechiul Testament tac în mijlocul unei decăderi copleșitoare. Zaharia, tatăl lui Ioan Botezătorul, exprimă dorința pentru o lume cu totul nouă. „datorită marii îndurări a Dumnezeului nostru, în urma căreia ne-a cercetat Soarele care răsare din înălţime, ca să lumineze pe cei ce zac în întunericul şi în umbra morţii şi să ne îndrepte picioarele pe calea păcii!” (Luca 1: 78-79)  De-a lungul istoriei noastre, strămoșii noștri au căzut în adâncimi similare, nenumărați oameni pledând în ceruri spre speranța îndurării. Nu putem ascunde propria noastră luptă dramatică de astăzi, similară cu experiența de naufragiu a apostolului Pavel. „Soarele şi stelele nu s-au văzut mai multe zile, şi furtuna era aşa de puternică, încât la urmă pierdusem orice nădejde de scăpare.” (Fapte 27:20)

În văile morții primejdioase, unde ne luptăm printre elementele terifiante ale singurătății, întunericului, neputinței, merită să urmăm exemplul păstorilor din primul Crăciun. Printre capcane, râpe, forțe ostile, trebuie să ascultăm glasurile cerului, să înțelegem cuvântul Creatorului nostru, să urmăm urmele lui Hristos, să căutăm părtășia Duhului Sfânt. Este o autoapărare susținută de har împotriva propriilor noastre păcate și a celor care păcătuiesc împotriva noastră.

Plecarea îngerului și a oștirii cerești nu i-a amărât pe păstori, nu au fost scufundați în întunericul auto-milostiv. Nu l-au calomniat pe Dumnezeu pentru scurta vizită și nu l-au acuzat că a dat puțin din bine! Știau că era rândul lor după acestea. Unul dintre ei a rostit fraza de îndemn, care poate fi percepută ca un antidot al fricii, renunțării, renunțării la sine: „Să mergem la Betleem …” Să nu pierdem timpul, să nu ne amărâm, să nu ne plângem, să mergem să privim! Să mergem astăzi, în vremea persecuției creștinilor, la biserica noastră, între cei de-ai noștri, la închinarea predată în limba noastră. Să ne uităm la ce s-a întâmplat. Pastorii se referă la aceasta ca dorind să experimenteze de aproape cuvântul, adevărata promisiune. Așa spune Ioan ceea ce „s-a întâmplat”, „Şi Cuvântul S-a făcut trup şi a locuit printre noi, plin de har şi de adevăr. Şi noi am privit slava Lui, o slavă întocmai ca slava singurului născut din Tatăl. (Ioan 1:14).

Păstorii recunosc și spun la începutul primului Crăciun că totul a fost făcut de Domnul nostru, așa că nu putem primi mesajul Evangheliei în mod incert sau iresponsabil. Să fim noi descendenți ai vechilor păstori, pentru a face viața de zi cu zi mai solemnă prin transmiterea autentică a Evangheliei, construirea comunității și smerenia pentru puterea sufletului.
