Pünkösdi pásztorlevél

            Ki a nagyobb? Ki az erősebb? Ki bír nagyobb hatalommal? – Ezek a kérdések, kimondva vagy kimondatlanul, meghatározzák életünket. A bűneset óta az ember ösztönösen igyekszik úgy helyezkedni, hogy lehetőleg ő legyen a legnagyobb, a legerősebb, a leghatalmasabb. Olyan időket élünk, amikor egyre többen demonstrálni akarják, hogy birtokukban van a legnagyobb erő és hatalom, közben pedig, a nagy versengésben, naponként emberi életek esnek áldozatul.

            Pünkösd üzenete egy másfajta erőt és hatalmat hirdet. Isten erejét és hatalmát, mely a Szentlélek kitöltetése által nyilvánult meg. Erről az erőről beszél, már évszázadokkal a pünkösdi csoda előtt, Zakariás próféta is.

            „Nem erővel, sem hatalommal, hanem az én Lelkemmel!” – Az erő és a hatalom ebben a mondatban az emberi erőre és hatalomra vonatkozik, amely szembenáll, vagy egyenesen akadályozni akarja a Szentlélek munkáját.

            Pünkösd a Szentlélek erejét ajánlja az emberi erőlködés és hatalmaskodás helyett. Akiket Isten Lelke betölt, azok átélik és meg is értik, hogy ez egészen más erő és hatalom, mint amiről sokaknak fogalma van. Ahhoz viszont, hogy Isten Szentlelke betöltsön, át kell élnünk a mi emberi erőnk és hatalmunk csődjét. Ha a Szentírásban megvizsgáljuk a Szentlélek munkáját, akkor azt látjuk, hogy a Lélek ott kezd el igazán hatni, ahol az emberi erő és hatalom  porba hullik. Azokban nyilvánul meg és azok által hat, akik feladják a maguk erejébe és hatalmába vetett bizalmukat.

            Ezt tapasztalja Zakariás próféta nemzedéke is, amely a babiloni fogság után, elakad a templom építésében. Amíg a templomépítők magukban bíztak, kínkeservesen haladt minden, újabb és újabb akadályok emelkedtek előttük. Mikor azonban eljutottak annak felismeréséig: ezt a feladatot mi magunkban nem tudjuk elvégezni, mert nincs hatalmunkban semmi és minden erőforrásunk kimerült…, akkor szólalt meg az Úr: Építsetek Velem, „az én Lelkemmel!” Továbbra is ti lesztek azok, akik egymáshoz illesztitek a templom köveit, de az én Lelkem fog vezetni titeket mindenben. 

            Hasonló helyzetben voltak a tanítványok is. Jézus mennybemenetele után türelmesen vártak. Nagypéntek és húsvét történései megtanították őket arra, hogy emberi erejükre nem érdemes semmit alapozni. Vártak és egy szívvel-lélekkel imádkoztak. Várták Jézus ígéretének beteljesedését, a mennyei erőnek áradását. A Lélek ereje pedig kiküldi őket Jeruzsálem utcáira, ahol az evangélium hirdetése által rövid idő alatt több ezer ember éli át a megtérés és az újjászületés csodáját.

            A Szentlélek ma is adatik. Általa válik Isten igéje élővé és hatóvá, amely emberi szíveket hódít meg és sokakat tesz Úr boldog gyermekeivé.

            „Jer, kérjük Isten áldott Szentlelkét!” (MRÉ 246:1). Imádkozzunk azért, hogy egyre többen éljék át valóságosan pünkösd csodáját és hiteles hívő életükkel hirdessék: „Nem erővel, sem hatalommal, hanem az én Lelkemmel!”

            Lelki ajándékokban gazdag ünnepet adjon az Úr mindnyájunknak!

Pentecost Pastoral
"Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit" (Zechariah 4:6)

Who is greater? Who is stronger? Who has greater power? –– These questions, spoken or unspoken, define our lives. Since the Fall, humans have instinctively sought to position themselves as the greatest, the strongest, the most powerful. We are living in times when more and more people want to demonstrate that they have the greatest power and authority, but in this evil competition, human lives are being sacrificed every day.

The message of Pentecost proclaims a different kind of power. The power and might of God, manifested through the descent of the Holy Spirit. That is the power spoken centuries earlier to the miracle of Pentecost by the prophet Zechariah.

"Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit!" - The power and authority in this phrase refer to human power and authority that opposes or downright seeks to hinder the work of the Holy Spirit.

Pentecost offers this power instead of human effort and power. Those who are filled with the Spirit of God will experience and understand that this is a power and authority quite different from what many have in mind. But to be filled with the Spirit of God, we must experience a failure of our human power and might. When we look at the work of the Holy Spirit in the Scripture, we see that the Spirit really begins to work where human power and authority fall into dust. It manifests itself and works through those who give up confidence in their own strength and power.

This is what the generation of Prophet Zechariah experiences the construction of the temple stalls after the Babylonian captivity. As long as the temple builders trusted in themselves, they made painful progress, and new obstacles kept rising up. But when they came to the realization that we cannot do this task by ourselves, because we have nothing in us and all our resources are exhausted –– in that moment the Lord spoke: "Build with me, "by my Spirit." You will continue to be the ones who join the stones of the temple together, but my Spirit will guide you in everything.

The disciples were in a similar situation. They waited patiently after Jesus' ascension. The events of Good Friday and Easter had taught them that nothing was worth relying on human strength. They waited and prayed with one heart and one soul. They waited for the fulfilment of Jesus' promise, for the descent of heavenly power. And the power of the Spirit sent them out into the streets of Jerusalem, where, in a short time, thousands of people experienced the miracle of repentance and rebirth through the preaching of the Gospel.

The Holy Spirit is still given today. The Word of God is made alive and effective, conquering human hearts and making many happy children of the Lord.

"Come, let us pray for the blessed Holy Spirit of God" (says the lyrics of a distinct Pentecost hymn - 246:1). Let us pray that more and more people will experience the miracle of Pentecost in reality and proclaim with their authentic faithful lives: "Not by might, nor by power, but by HIS Spirit!"

May the Lord give us all a Pentecost abundant in spiritual gifts!

„Nici prin putere, nici prin tărie, ci prin Duhul Meu” (Zah 4,6)

Cine e mai mare? Cine e mai tare? Cine are mai multă forță, mai multă putere? Aceste întrebări rostite sau nerostite ne definesc viața. De la Păcat încoace, omul încearcă instinctiv să se poziționeze astfel încât el să fie cel mai mare și cel mai puternic. Trăim vremuri în care din ce în ce mai multe persoane vor să demonstreze că dețin cea mai mare putere, în timp ce vieți umane cad victimă zi de zi concurenței constante.
Mesajul Rusaliilor vestește o altă formă de forță și putere: forța și puterea Domnului, întruchipat în Pogorârea Sfântului Duh. Mult înainte de miracolul de Rusalii, profetul Zaharia vorbea deja despre această putere: „Nici prin putere, nici prin tărie, ci prin Duhul Meu!” - puterea și tăria, în această frază, se referă la puterea și tăria umană care se opune sau care caută de-a dreptul să împiedice lucrarea Sfântului Duh.
Rusaliile oferă puterea Sfântului Duh în locul eforturilor și autorității umane. Cei care primesc Duhul Domnului vor trăi și vor înțelege că aceasta este o putere și o autoritate cu totul diferite de ceea ce mulți gândesc. Dar, pentru a primi Duhul Sfânt, trebuie să cunoaștem eșecul puterii și autorității noastre umane. Când ne uităm la lucrarea Duhului Sfânt în Scriptură, vedem că Duhul începe cu adevărat să lucreze acolo unde puterea și autoritatea umană se prăbușesc. El se manifestă și lucrează prin cei care renunță la încrederea în propria forță și putere.
Aceasta este, de asemenea, experiența generației profetului Zaharia, care, după exilul babilonian, nu reușește să construiască templul. Atâta timp cât constructorii templului au avut încredere doar în ei înșiși, lucrarea a progresat greoi, lovindu-se de noi și noi obstacole. Când însă și-au dat seama că singuri nu pot duce construcția la bun sfârșit, pentru că nu au puterea necesară și s-au epuizat toate resursele... atunci a grăit Domnul: Construiți cu Mine, „prin Duhul Meu!” Rămâneți în continuare cei care clădiți pereții templului, dar Duhul meu vă va ghida în tot ceea ce faceți.
Discipolii se aflau într-o situație similară. După înălțarea lui Isus, au așteptat cu răbdare. Evenimentele din Vinerea Mare și de Paște îi învățaseră că nu merită să se bazeze nimic pe forța umană. Au așteptat și s-au rugat cu o singură inimă și un singur suflet. Au așteptat împlinirea promisiunii lui Isus, revărsarea puterii cerești. Iar puterea Duhului i-a trimis pe străzile Ierusalimului, unde, în scurt timp, mii de oameni au trăit miracolul convertirii și al renașterii prin propovăduirea Evangheliei.
Sfântul Duh se primește și astăzi. Prin El, Cuvântul Domnului devine viu și activ, cucerind inimi și transformând mulți oameni în copii fericiți ai Domnului. „Vino, să cerem Duhul Sfânt al Domnului!” - sună cântecul 246:1 din Cartea de imnuri a Bisericii Reformate Maghiare. Să ne rugăm ca din ce în ce mai mulți oameni să trăiască cu adevărat miracolul Rusaliilor și să proclame cu viața lor sincer credincioasă: „Nu prin putere,
nici prin tărie, ci prin Duhul meu!”.
Să ne dea Domnul tuturor o sărbătoare plină de cadouri sufletești!
